Split Video by Scene Cuts

Turn one video into a clip for every shot. Choose your video, find its scene cuts, then adjust sensitivity and preview each scene. Download clips individually or together as a ZIP, or export just the timestamps. Everything runs locally on your device using Mediabunny; your video is never uploaded. Detection looks for abrupt visual changes between frames, so fades, flashes and fast camera movement may need a different sensitivity. MP4 and WebM exports depend on the codecs supported by your browser.Read more ↓Show less ↑

Fewer cutsMore cuts

Higher sensitivity finds smaller visual changes. At 0%, the video stays in one piece.

Detection options

Detection only. Clips are encoded when you download them.

Frequently asked questions

How do I split a video at every scene cut?

Choose a video and click Find scene cuts. The tool compares consecutive frames locally, creates one clip per detected shot and lets you preview the results. Download any scene or choose Download all scenes for a ZIP with the clips and timestamps.

What does cut sensitivity change?

Higher sensitivity detects smaller visual changes and usually finds more cuts. Lower sensitivity keeps only larger changes. After the first scan, adjustments update the list immediately. Minimum scene length helps avoid very short clips. Detection is approximate; review your scenes before downloading.

Are videos uploaded to a server?

No. Mediabunny decodes and encodes your video in your browser. The processing library downloads on first use, but your media stays on your device. No account or payment is needed.

Can I download only the cut timestamps?

Yes. Copy the comma-separated cut times in seconds, excluding the start and end of the video, or download a CSV with the start, end and duration of every scene. The ZIP contains both timestamp formats.

Which formats and encoding settings can I use?

Choose an MP4, MOV, WebM or MKV input with a browser-decodable video codec. Export MP4 with H.264 or WebM with VP9, set the maximum output height and quality, and keep or remove audio. Clips are re-encoded to cut at the detected frame boundaries. Codec availability depends on your browser and device; try a current Chrome or Edge.

Can it detect fades and handle large videos?

The detector targets hard cuts, not gradual fades or semantic scene changes. Fast motion and flashes can produce false cuts. Scanning uses small frames, but decoding and exporting still take time and device memory. ZIP exports have a 256 MB output limit; for larger projects, lower export quality or download scenes individually.
