Frequently asked questions
What are C2PA Content Credentials?
C2PA Content Credentials are provenance manifests that can record how media was created or edited. This viewer locates embedded manifest stores and displays readable claims and assertions. It does not validate cryptographic signatures, certificate trust or the truth of a claim.
How do I remove C2PA credentials without losing quality?
Choose Remove embedded credentials and process a supported file. JPEG, PNG and WebP manifest segments or chunks are removed directly. MP4-based manifest boxes are overwritten with padding to preserve media offsets. Image pixels and encoded media tracks are not re-encoded.
Does removing Content Credentials remove every AI watermark?
No. This tool removes embedded C2PA manifest stores only. External manifests, XMP provenance references, other metadata, visible marks and invisible watermarks may remain. A file with no embedded credentials is not evidence that it is human-made or unedited.
Which file formats can this C2PA viewer inspect?
It supports JPEG, PNG, WebP and MP4-based files including MOV, M4A, AVIF and HEIC, up to 512 MB. Multi-picture JPEGs, unsupported containers and malformed structures produce an error. Files stay on your device, and you can download the inspection report as JSON.
